Drumtochty Castle Wedding Photography

Here is the elegant wedding of Jenny & Adam at the staggeringly beautiful Drumtochty Castle. Drumtochty is an exclusive use castle in Auchenblae, south Aberdeenshire. It is an ideal venue for all times of year with grand interiors, the romantic chapel, stunning gardens and loch - all nestled in Scottish forest.

The morning started off with all of the men having a spot of shooting! I am especially fond of the one where I said aim the guns at me. The real guns. It was only when they pointed at them my tummy went a bit funny. Great photo though!

The ceremony in the grand hall was something to behold. I followed Jenny in with her dad. A dream like ceremony with lots of happy tears. I love my job!

After the ceremony I climbed up to the top of the Castle to get a downwards shot of the group. After the group photos and some hugs it was time for the newlywed photo/video shoot. We went a short wander on the ground down to the lakeside while the guests were entertained by the fabulous Carbon Copy wedding band (the drummer was at my wedding I have since learned!).

An absolutely magical walk. As a photographer I had butterflies as every 30ft or so revealed new magical scenes. I don’t often talk about lenses and equipment… I own a 135mm f2.0 and I never ever use it. I used it a lot here so I could keep out the way really, it’s got a good bit of range on it telephoto wise. I stick to my 85 1.4 for posh portraits, I have a 2023 resolution to use this gorgeous lens as much as possible I absolutely adore how sharp and cinematic it makes each image.

Big thank you to Jenny & Adam, Christie Johnston photography and the team at Drumtochty for one of the most enjoyable working days of 2022. Blessed to be doing what I am doing. If Drumtochty castle is on your shortlist as a possible wedding venue you will be hard pushed to find a nicer place to celebrate your love in an elegant, Scottish style.
